News, special announcements and current updates Coming Soon...
December Newsletter:
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. It’s hard to believe the holidays and end of the year are already here! With that in mind, we want to remind you to keep yourself at the top of your priority list. It is easy to get lost in all the preparation, with the shopping, holiday parties and running around, and not to mention, the food! If you can remember to keep your fitness first, you won’t feel so guilty at the end of the season because you may have had a little too much!
We are offering classes all season and looking to add more as the New Year begins. If you need a little more motivation, sign up for a personal one on one session to get your metabolism going.
Don’t forget that Studio A Pilates offers Holiday Gift Certificates!
Studio Closings:
The Studio will be closed December 24th, 25th and 26th as well as Jan 1st in observance of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
New Classes:
Along with the wonderful Reformer and Mat classes we are now offering Mat/Tower and Reformer Combo Classes. These classes have been added to take advantage of the new Tower of Power that has been attached to the reformers.
The Mat/Tower class offers the classical mat pilates exercises but with the resistance of the springs of the tower. This brings a new level to the traditional mat class!
The Reformer Combo class takes the concepts of the reformer, mat, and tower exercises and brings them all together. It offers quite a bit of variety to the traditional class and will really tap into your core!
Call and get signed up to try a class soon! They are both offered on Thursday, the Mat/Tower class at 11:00am and the Reformer Combo at 1:00pm.
Free Mat Pilates:
Lululemon Athletica hosts a free mat class each Tuesday evening and they will be featuring Studio A Pilates for the month of December. They are located in Market Street next to Swoozies. Come in this month and get in an extra workout! Classes will be taught by instructor, Sandra Sutherland and owner, Anna Gammill. Let friends know and they can come in and get to know pilates with you!
Exercise of the Month:
Rolling Like A Ball:

Rolling exercises stimulate the spine, deeply work the abdominals, and tune us into the inner flow of movement and breath in the body.
- Sit on your mat and clasp your hands over your shins, just above the ankle.
- Drop your shoulders, widen your back, deepen your abdominals, and make a nice curve of your spine. Don't tuck your head, your neck is part of the long curve.
- Lift your feet off the mat and balance on, or just behind, your sit bones.
- Inhale: Pull the lower abs in and up to get yourself going and roll back on your inhale. Roll only to the shoulders. Do not roll onto the neck. Pause.
- Exhale: Stay deeply scooped with your spine curved. Use your exhale and abdominals to return to upright.
